TEXAS UNIFIED D.C. ARE WE NEXT? A OPEN LETTER TO THE D.M.V HIP HOP ARTIST!
Houston’s 97.9 The Box (KBXX-FM) has recruited some of the biggest artists in the city’s musical history to present fans with a one of a kind celebration of the city’s contribution to Hip-Hop culture over the years.
The station, which is set to hold it’s annual Los Magnificos Custom Car Show & Concert on Sunday, November 23, will take advantage of the event to take a stance towards unity with a “Best of Texas” themed concert.
The historical show, which will also celebrate the state’s continuing musical legacy, will bring together every major Texas Hip-Hop act, achieving something that has yet to be offered to the fans: a day of unity and peace in Houston’s Hip-Hop community.
“Houston area artists are putting their differences aside to pay homage to the many musical contributions that have shaped the sound of southern Hip-Hop” KBXX Program Director Terri Thomas told AllHipHop.com. “The idea was to do the event that everyone always talked about but no one has ever pulled off. There has never been an event in Houston that unified the Hip-Hop community: Swisha House, Rap-A-Lot, Screwed Up Click…all the major artists will be participating, plus some folks that were instrumental early on.”
The confirmed line up of artists includes stars like Scarface, Chamillionaire, Bun B., Slim Thug and the Boss Hogg Outlaws, Trae Tha Truth, Z-Ro, Mike Jones, Paul Wall and Lil’ Flip.
The bill also leaves room for regional successes like Kiotti, Lil’ Keke, Chingo Bling, Big Tuck and Fat B, Big Pokey, and ESG, Texas artists who are spearheading the next surge of the Hip-Hop movement.
Also scheduled to perform are pioneers the Botany Boys and Street Military, as well as Wicket Crickett, Wino, Sex Fiends, GT, Mista Madd, Lil’ O, Quint Black, Fat Pimp, Lil Will, Damm D, and Trapstars.
“This show with Houston's finest is long overdue,” exclaimed 97.9’s veteran morning show host Madd Hatta, who has been an integral part of the city’s music scene and will be one of the event’s MCs.
“Houston artists have represented Hip-Hop for more than two decades,” Madd Hatta noted. “These artists have contributed to the world and created an economy in Houston unheard of in most cities. Bringing the pioneers together with the new generation of Hip-Hop and paying respect to these trailblazers at this time in history makes it even more relevant.”
In addition to the performances, the “Best of Texas” show will take time out to recognize the contributions of the Screwed Up Click, Swisha House, Wreck Shop and Rap-A-Lot families and present the Geto Boys with a coveted Pioneer Award.
The Los Magnificos Custom Car Show and concert will be held at the Reliant Center in Houston on November 23 from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm.

D.M.V.
This is addressed to any artist that ever said they are repin The D.M.V..... I hear a lot of dudes yelling UNIFY and that's all good but they don't come holla at us so how is that UNITY I salute wale cause before he said the UNIFACAITRION OF D.M.V line in his NIKE boots song people in his camp hollerd at us like we tryna rep this with yall that's REAL..... when we started this movement there were a few that stood beside us and made this a popular phrase but as as a city I see every body saying UNIFY but not doing it all talk no action if you are Uniting with other artist in the D.M.V I salute you and take off my W fitted redskins cap, wizards or capitals hat to you.
But this is not a fad or trendy word it is a way of life and a system and a process this is how Atlanta stays up jeezy and T.I. doing records together being featured on each other big projects and albums. When new york was on top biggie had the lox jay-z method man on his album and many more. JIGGA had marry J the lox foxy the ranjahs DMX mimphis bleek he even reached out and got a group that was on the under ground and united with them UGK from Texas.
So I ask D.C. whats good when is all the hate and side ways talk going to leave, the back pack dudes talking about you don't have to rap about the streets the street dudes saying them back pack dudes some weirdos ETC....
I see a lot and hear even more division between the 2 crowds in D.C. and yall gotta under stand we are all not alike we can agree to disagree on some things but we should all agree on UNIFYING this city where the first black president will live in.
Its embarrassing going out of town and dudes saying yall D.C. dudes don't stick together for shit.....See we started UNIFY OR DIE! because ludacris told my CO C.E.O that yall D.C. dudes need some unity up there 5 years ago and thats real so for all of my good D.C. ARTIST and supporters we gotta locate who are the peace makers and who are the peace breakers and move forward with the those that are upwardly driven to succeed lets come together D.M.V. 4 real starting now should be our new beginning PEACE.
